Once we become frequent Yoga Practitioners, we realize that the key in deepening your practice lies in coming back as often as you can. While Yoga extends far beyond the physical Asana practice (we’ll explore that soon), the moving meditation on the mat help us use the body as a tool to connect to the present moment and a deeper sense of self.
Well — ok, that’s all great. But the first obstacle (other than getting your butt off the couch) is the financial cost of it all. With drop-in rates ranging from $15 – 30/class and monthly membership costs of $70-180, the cost of sustaining this daily practice can feel expensive, if not inaccessible, to many of us. Here is a list of some local Oakland studios that offer community/donation yoga classes, so you can deepen your practice and come back to the mat at a I’m-living-in-the-freakin-Bay-Area-budget friendly cost. Enjoy & happy practicing!

Another great way to tap into affordable Yoga is to directly reach out to a studio you are interested in and ask about Work-Study opportunities. In exchange of working the front desk for a couple of hours, or helping to clean the studio, you may be able to get free yoga classes 🙂
